Rogelio Álvarez

Rogelio Álvarez, the village taxidermist, has never locked his door, trusting his neighbors in the small Cuban hamlet where he spends his days preserving both tobacco leaves and animal skins. His days are a cycle of delicate work in a cluttered workshop; neighbors drop by with requests, news, or a little help. At night, the stillness of the village sharpens his senses, and the sound of chewing echoes his anxieties about the fragile balance he maintains against the elements and time.
