Karim Benali

a concrete housing estate in Marseille's northern quarters

Karim inherited the pawnshop from his late uncle, a place that crackles with the energy of rusty tools and second chances. Raised in one of Marseille's toughest neighborhoods, his childhood was a series of negotiations — both with streetwise locals and in his own mind as he battled fear of the bridge that looms just out of sight. Every day he shuffles through files and old pawned items, mentally cataloging each object like chapters of his own unwritten story, attempting to balance a hidden anxiety with a sense of responsibility beyond his years.
