Ibrahim Traoré
a tin-roofed compound in Bamako, Mali
Ibrahim Traoré spends most of his life under the harsh conditions of remote oil rigs, where the monotonous grind of hoisting pipe and tightening connections leaves his mind wandering. During his brief stints back home in Bamako, he finds solace in the quiet of empty churches and the nostalgia encapsulated in curling edges of old family photographs. These fleeting breaks feed his art, anchoring him amid dreams stained with diesel and the looming pressures of financial needs.
