Hassan al-Bahrani
a pearl diving island in the Persian Gulf
Hassan al-Bahrani has spent over five decades working on the small pearl-diving isle, perfecting the art of auto body painting. He inherited his skills from his father, whose hands once worked wood and metal under harsh coastal conditions. Despite the chronic ache in his knees, he rises before dawn to barter for parts and works tirelessly in his sun-drenched workshop, nurturing the dreams of a shy apprentice amidst his own fears of watching the island's traditions vanish with time.
