Chea Kosal

Chea Kosal has spent decades in the solitude of a toll booth, isolated by the rhythmic flow of traffic and the undulating waters of the Tonle Sap. He lives in a stilted house, often surrounded by the reflection of stars on the water, which he observes while ensuring the generator hums steadily to keep the lights on and maintain a semblance of normalcy. His granddaughter’s school progress and the worrying soundscape of flooding streams drive his thoughts as he constructs music after the day’s work, with only candles and moonlight illuminating his creative space.
